My name is Isaac Kiragu, I am a fourth year at Maseno University, pursuing Bachelors of Science in development studies with IT. I come from a background where the pursuit of education felt like an impossible dream. When I first joined university, it was through a fundraising effort organized by my mother, who had no means to afford my enrollment. However, my joy quickly turned into hardship. Throughout my first and second years, I faced overwhelming challenges. I had no money to sustain myself, and I missed many classes while working any job I could find to make ends meet. I went without breakfast and lunch, often eating only supper, and even that was not guaranteed.

Attending classes became a painful experience. I could not focus, constantly overwhelmed by hunger and financial stress. By the end of my second year, I felt I had no choice but to defer my studies. Financially, it seemed impossible to continue, and I was already making plans to leave school and find manual work, perhaps in the farms. The thought of giving up on my education, a dream that meant everything to me was heartbreaking. I wanted nothing more than to succeed, to use my education to uplift others and contribute meaningfully to the society. But at that moment, my dream seemed out of reach.

Just as I was about to give up, FACES divinely came to my life like a miracle. They covered my school fees for my third and fourth years, ensuring I could stay in school. But they did not stop there, they also provided me with an upkeep money for food, clothing, and other essentials, making sure I could live with dignity and focus on my studies. For the first time, I could attend all my classes regularly without worrying about where my next meal would come from or how I would survive.

Thanks to FACES, I now attend my classes fully focused and determined to succeed. Their support has been life-changing, and I am forever grateful. They did not just save my education; they revived my dream of making an impact in the world. With their help, I am now closer to achieving my education dream and helping my community thus making a difference in the lives of others.

FACES gave me hope when I had none, and for that, I will always be thankful.

Mr. Stanley and his wife Cecilia, who I now refer to as (mom and dad), have been a constant source of support and guidance in my life. They’ve not only provided for my basic needs but have also shaped my spiritual, personal, and professional growth in profound ways.

They’ve supported me financially, ensuring I have what I need for my upkeep and education. They paid my school fees, allowing me to pursue my studies without worry. Beyond that, they made sure I had a skill to build a future on, by sponsoring a barber course for me, which has opened up a world of opportunities.

On a deeper level, they’ve helped mold my spiritual life, teaching me values that anchor me. Through their love and actions, they’ve shown me the importance of second chances and the power of believing in the impossible. They’ve taught me to never give up, regardless of life’s challenges.

Above all, they’ve helped me discover who I truly am. Their guidance has given me a strong sense of identity and purpose, for which I am forever grateful - Brian K.
